More On Those Who Say They Are Jews But Are Not

Published: April 22, 2010 (Originally published: April 21, 2010)
Q

Although I really enjoyed your posting, I have a question that has always bothered me. If God destroyed all mankind with the flood and only saved Noah and his family…then aren’t we all really descendants from Noah, which in turn would make all of us part Jewish?

Q

If somebody wants a marriage based on love and falls in love is it wrong? I mean loving somebody who is a Christian and who knows Jesus as his/ her personal savior. So meeting each other before marriage, hugging, kissing, is that wrong in any sense ?

Expelling An Unrepentant Sinner

Published: April 23, 2010 (Originally published: April 22, 2010)
Q

I thoroughly enjoy reading the various questions on your site. I have a rather controversial one. A local church in the area recently booted a member out of the church. This member, a Christian and member of this church for years was living in unrepentant sin, was not willing to change, and after numerous meetings and counseling from the pastors they decided to boot this person out. Is that Biblical and should that still be practiced today? It seems harsh of this church.

Was It Really Him?

Published: April 8, 2010 (Originally published: April 7, 2010)
Q

I know we are not to contact the dead, and I do not seek to do so. Two hours after my husband died, however, I felt that his spirit walked through my body. That is, his spirit approached me from behind, briefly was “in” my body, making me feel that he was now healthy and walking, and then walked onward swiftly. It lasted only seconds. I did not ask for this contact. But I believe it happened. Is this permitted by God? If this is not permitted, I am troubled, because I believe it happened.

Reformed Theology, Follow Up

Published: April 10, 2010 (Originally published: April 9, 2010)
Q

I was just reading an answer you gave on Reformed Theology. In part of your answer, you said, “Reformed theology teaches that God’s covenant with man has been transferred from Israel to the Church.” What concerned me about this was that you did not say – And this is not true. My question to you is, what are your thoughts on this issue?

Where Were Their Spirits?

Published: February 14, 2015 (Originally published: April 10, 2010)
Q

This question came up in Bible Study today as we were studying being “asleep” in Christ in 1 Thessalonians. I understand that Lazarus was raised pre-resurrection of Christ so his spirit went to Sheol and was recalled, I guess. But the episode with Dorcas occurred post-resurrection. What happened to her spirit since she was a believer? Surely, she wasn’t recalled from heaven. I suppose the boy in the window who fell as Paul was preaching would fall into the same category if he was a believer. Your ministry is of enormous consequence. Please keep up the great insights.

A Case For Prayer Language?

Published: April 12, 2010 (Originally published: April 11, 2010)
Q

What is your take on praying in the Spirit in a tongue unknown to man? “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.” (1Cor. 14:2) Do you see this scripture talking of a known language but unknown to the person or congregation, or a tongue known only to the Spirit of God? The Word also refers to this tongue unknown to man but only known to the Spirit. “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” (Rom 8:26) What do you believe is meant by this?

No Sacrifice For These Sins?

Q

As I read the Old Testament, I saw that there was no sacrifice for murder or adultery. Why was this, and how can we be sure that these sins are forgiven under the new covenant?

Why Do We Still Sin, Follow Up

Published: April 12, 2010 (Originally published: April 11, 2010)
Q

I came upon your response to a reader’s question titled, “Why Do We Still Sin?” and had a question about your statement pertaining to suicide. You made a reference to 1 Cor. 9:24-25 supporting your belief that Christians could kill themselves and still go to heaven. I was concerned about this because I was brought up to believe that one is hellbound when suicide is committed, Christian or not.

To endorse the belief, I later reasoned that suicide is a slap in GOD’s face and it displays one of the greatest lack of faith in addition to the premise that since we had no control and will over birth, then we have no control over our death, in regards to terminating self, as well. Please elaborate on your opinions on Christianity and suicide as it relates to 1 Cor 9:24-25.
