Understanding John 20:22-23

Published: September 4, 2013
Q

What does John 20:22-23 mean? “If you forgive men’s sins they are forgiven them and if you hold them bound they are held bound?” The Catholic Church takes this to validate the confessional and forgiveness of sins by the priest. Your insight is appreciated.

Salvation Questions

Q

If one accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior, does that mean they get a free ticket to heaven, or do they have to grow spiritually and form a closer relationship to the Lord? I am wondering this because of our sin and how hard Jesus says that it is for rich people to make it to heaven.

The Two Witnesses. Follow Up

Published: September 4, 2013
Q

In your bible study The Two Witnesses of Revelation you make your case for Moses and Elijah as being those two. In doing so you posit that Hebrews 9:27 is a principle, not a rule. While you explain that several bible characters died more than once, ALL ultimately died except Enoch and Elijah. If Moses and Elijah return as the two witnesses, how do you account for Enoch? The Garden sin brought the penalty of death to all, no exceptions. So, I respectfully posit that, since the two witnesses will (and, must) be killed during the tribulation, they have to be Enoch and Elijah. I look forward to your response.

The Crown Of Victory

Q

When Paul used athletics to describe the Christian race of faith, in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, he states in verse 27 that he beats his body to make it his slave, so that after he has preached to others, he himself won’t be disqualified from the prize. Is he referring to the prize of salvation? If so, does that not imply that one can lose his or her salvation?

One Simple Rule

Q

Why did God not judge Satan when he first sinned ? It wasn’t man’s sin. As a result of God not doing that Satan was allowed to tempt mankind, who failed. Now multiplied millions will plunge into Hell. I do not understand. Thanks.

New Heavens And New Earth

Q

I was reading some materials earlier and it mentioned how heaven and earth are going to be wiped away after the 7 years of the Tribulation. I was wondering though do the people that are raptured enjoy the bridal feast in heaven or is it taken away after the rapture? And if so were does everyone go to await the New Earth?

Taking The Mark

Q

In Revelation 13 where the Bible says that the anti-christ “causeth” all….to receive the mark. Can you please tell me the root meaning of causeth? There’s an article online about a man receiving an info chip in his hand and chatter in the comments says no one will be forced – alluding that people might take it and not realize they’re denying the Lord by doing so.

Will Those Who Reject The Pre-Trib Rapture Still Go?

Published: August 30, 2013
Q

I’m concerned about those Christians who are Pre-Wrath and Post Trib believers. Do you have scripture to ease my mind that they would make it in the Pre-trib rapture, even though they don’t believe in it? I’m reminded that Heb 9:28 says very firmly that …”to those that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation”.

A Warning From Revelation

Q

In the Bible it says, “And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” Revelation 22:19 My question is, what exactly constitutes adding to the Bible? Is it permissible for me to mark important passages or write my own notes beside a verse or story I find particularly confusing?

Are We To Know The Times And Seasons?

Q

I’m still an avid reader of your site. I’ve also noticed many other sites I visit quote you or are linked to you. Do you ever correspond with these people or do they just pick up on your teaching as we have? Do you have any control over this? These are not important questions but I was just curious.

In relationship to today’s Q &A- You referenced the fact that both Paul and the Lord said we should be aware of the season regarding His return. How do we reconcile that with Luke’s statement in Acts 1:7 that seems contradictory? Thanks again for your answers. God bless you and your family as you seek to serve Him in these last days.
