There’s A New Day Coming. Follow Up

Q

I have just read your article “There’s a new day coming” and I am a bit confused. I thought it’s Michael the angel who protects the saved Jews in Petra, not Jesus. I recall reading that in one of the books of the major prophets. Michael is Israel’s guardian angel I believe?

Also, please help me to understand why the nations attack Jerusalem at the battle of Armageddon, I thought the anti-christ would be ruling from the temple? Do the world’s forces attack the anti-christ and in the process plunder Jerusalem or is it secular Israel they attack?

A

Daniel 12:1 speaks of Michael arising to protect Israel at the time of the Great Tribulation. But that doesn’t mean the Lord won’t also be involved.

Isaiah 63:1-6 is a description of the Lord’s participation in the Battle of Armageddon and shows Him coming from Bozrah wearing blood stained garments. Bozrah was the capital of Edom and is located in southern Jordan in the same area as Petra. Many scholars consider Bozrah (Hebrew) and Petra (Greek) to be two names for the same place. This places the Lord in Bozrah/Petra just before the battle of Armageddon.

The nations don’t gather against Jerusalem to attack the anti-Christ. They come to help him defend it against the Lord. Jerusalem is the Lord’s capitol city and to finalize his conquest of planet Earth, the anti-Christ has to defeat the Lord and secure Jerusalem as his own.

In Revelation 16:13-14 we see three evil spirits going to the Kings of the Earth to gather them for this final battle against God. In Rev. 19:11-16 the Lord arrives in the skies over Jerusalem at the head of the armies of Heaven. Note the Lord is still in blood stained garments (Rev. 19:13). Rev. 19:19 shows us the anti-Christ and the kings of the earth with their armies waiting to do battle against Him. Of course the Lord will utterly defeat them and will take his place as the rightful King of the whole Earth (Zechariah 14:9).
