Update on Shanthi 1-4-2022

Thank you for praying with us for Shanthi. She has had the surgery and continues to need our prayers. Here’s the latest update.

You can see our original prayer request post here to get caught up.

Surgery and recovery

Shanthi asked to delay her surgery until after Christmas since it’s so high risk. The surgery was successful! And she’s in recovery. She suffered a stroke, which they knew could happen, and was rushed back to the ICU. She is now out of the ICU and recovering again! The stroke affected her left side and made it very difficult to swallow, so she was on nasal tube feeding. But they were just able to remove that and she is now slowly regaining her ability to swallow!

All the men came to donate blood for her surgery! I’ve gotten questions about this with other surgeries both here and in Mexico. In many places outside the US, a patient must get friends and family to donate enough blood needed for the surgery. That’s how they keep the blood banks filled. It doesn’t have to be the same kind, it just has to replace what the patient needs.

Thank you for praying for Shanthi! I’ll keep you updated on her progress.
