Is She Committing Suicide?

Published: October 23, 2024
Q

In the news recently a woman who was paralyzed went to court and won the “right to die” by having her breathing tube removed. Her parents think that if she does that she is committing suicide and won’t go to heaven. Question is, if she or any one can not live without the help of machines, would it be considered suicide if she had the tubes removed, or would it be considered a natural death?

How Do We Know It Was A Sin Offering?

Published: October 22, 2024
Q

I’m reading your response regarding Cain and Abel’s offering on your site. You mentioned that no matter whether Cain would have brought the best of his produce or not his offering was not going to be acceptable to God because sin offering required the shedding of innocent blood. I want to know where in Genesis 4 does it tell that they were doing a SIN offering? Secondly, how do we know that the lamb that Abel offered was without blemish?

Can I Un-Save Myself?

Published: October 22, 2024
Q

I am a born-again Christian. I know this. But a while back ( and even now occasionally) I had serious doubts. There was a point where I was devoid of faith and it seemed like all was lost. I wanted to believe, but I just couldn’t. I read the bible, and it would help, but then I’d get a sense of hopelessness and belief would become impossible again. It came to a point where I asked for signs that He was real and He delivered in the form of an unknown call on my phone shortly after I had asked. then, a text saying Jesus never fails, and finally, out of the blue a friend texted me cause she felt like something was wrong. I’ve read that once you were saved nothing could change it, but what about you? What if you decide that you don’t believe anymore? Can you come back? The prodigal son explains that the son comes to his senses and begs his father but the son never forgot the father.

Judging Others

Published: October 22, 2024
Q

A staunch, very conservative Christian I know posts articles and makes derogatory comments on Facebook about things like she thinks is sinful. I do not agree with some of these issues either but I do not think it is my place to judge in that manner. Is this how Christians should act? If not, what should they do if they have these strong viewpoints?

Baptism Before Marriage?

Published: October 21, 2024
Q

I have a question about something our church and my family are going through right now. My niece, who is almost 30, is getting married to a man she has known for about 4 years. He was brought up Catholic, but says he believes the gospel way of salvation. My niece thinks he is saved. Her father isn’t sure. One of the reasons they (our pastor, her dad, and the deacons) give is that he is not baptized. Is baptism a qualification for marriage in other churches? I have gone to our church for almost 50 years and have never heard of it being an issue before.

Could Jesus Have Sinned?

Published: October 21, 2024
Q

I know Christ was sinless and never sinned ever, even when tempted but my question is: Could He have sinned if He choose to? I think he could not. I have asked many preachers and elders and have never really gotten a clear answer. Please let me know what you think.

Re: Jeremiah 31:31-34. Is there a difference between the New Covenant for the Church and the New Covenant for Israel?

Bothered By My Sins

Q

If a person cannot live carefree in sin and yet still sins, can this internal battle be looked to as a “proof” of sorts that he or she has the Holy Spirit within and is saved?

Doubting My Faith

Published: October 18, 2024
Q

I am struggling with some things for days now, and my father told me to write to you about them. This is one of my problems, and I’m not sure if its just attacks from Satan or what because I’m constantly unsure if I’m a child of God, and I feel very afraid. What is the difference between doubt and unbelief? I am scared that I don’t have the faith to be saved, and I get a terrible fear in my heart. Can you please give me advice?

Understanding James 2:14-26

Published: October 17, 2024
Q

In James 2:14-26 he questions whether someone can be saved without works, that faith is best displayed by works, twice that faith without works is dead and useless, that a man is justified by works and not faith alone, that Abraham was justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac at the altar.

Personally I have always believed in Ephesians 2:8,9 “that we are save by grace through faith and that not of ourselves, it’s the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast.” And as you have said in the past (correct me if I am wrong) that it is what we believe and not how we behave that saves us. Is that right?
