Treasure In Heaven, Follow Up

Published: November 24, 2021 (Originally published: November 12, 2010)
Q

I wanted to ask you a follow-up question regarding treasures in Heaven. What does the Bible say these treasures are, and why do we need them? If our works are like “dirty rags” at the the feet of the Lord, and our salvation is based only on our acceptance of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as a sin atonement, then how can we store up treasure? Wouldn’t that actually give rise to the sin of jealously if one individual has more than another?

I would think that being in Heaven and having the opportunity to commune with God in the way He intended would be enough to satisfy any Christian, so again, why do we need treasures and the belief that we can have greater favor with God through our actions here on earth? Wouldn’t we be better off just giving to the poor and helping those in need because it’s the right thing to do as a Christian versus doing it because we expect a sort of heavenly pay-back?

Why Will They Be Ashamed?

Published: November 21, 2016 (Originally published: November 30, 2011)
Q

In 1 John, John makes the statement “abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.” I’m pretty sure that the phrase “when He shall appear” is in reference to the rapture. My question is, are there going to actually be believers who are ashamed at His appearing? And why would they be?

Rapture On Pentecost?

Published: May 25, 2009 (Originally published: May 24, 2009)
Q

I am wondering … what else has to happen before the Lord returns? I waffled back and forth between pre and mid for many years and now that I feel like I have a solid belief in pre-trib, I am wondering what prophecies still need to be fulfilled, if any. My daughter keeps mentioning something about a red heifer, but I am not sure where that comes into play.

I have read much about Pentecost on your site and am wondering if it is possible for His return on this Pentecost, May 31, or does that not give enough time if something still needs to be fulfilled. I find myself completely absorbed in thinking and longing for His return, and almost feel like I wont be able to bear it on June 1st. How does one balance longing for him and keeping on in this lifetime.

I feel like I am holding my breath waiting for the moment when with one blink I close my eyes here, and open them in heaven. Will it happen that fast?? Sorry, I am just truly longing to go home.

Remember Lot’s Wife

Published: September 27, 2014 (Originally published: August 31, 2011)
Q

In the case of Lot’s wife, I assumed that when she was pulled out of Sodom and Gomorrah with Lot and the family they were saved because they were found righteous to be spared. If that’s so, why would she be turned to the pillar of salt just for looking behind. I realize she didn’t follow the directions to not look back, but I don’t understand why she was punished like that. It’s like how we’re saved and we still disobey on occasion but we’re still saved from the wrath. So why wasn’t she?

Losing Rewards

Published: June 16, 2020 (Originally published: May 3, 2016)
Q

Thank you so very much for your wonderful bible teachings. I have been extremely blessed by them. I have found in my own bible studies and extra biblical books a very distressing interpretation of judgment about crowns/rewards at The Bema seat of Christ. One book by a popular writer quotes 2 John 8 “Watch yourselves that you do not lose what you have accomplished.” It goes on to explain that many Christians who have served the Lord for many years, will lose their rewards and crowns which they have already earned if they backslide into temptations of carnality, sensuality, or other temptations of the flesh.

Am I wrong in understanding every time we sin, we are forgiven but our rewards are taken away? I am heartsick to think anything I might have earned in the way of rewards was lost because of a sin (no matter how big or small) even though the sin was confessed.

Please help me to understand this because I want to serve the Lord in Heaven based on my rewards, and I want to please him, but if every time I get angry at my husband or adult children, or think a bad thought or bad attitude (though confessed and forgiven) I have to start all over again and that takes the joy out of serving the Lord. Is there something wrong with my thought process?

It’s About Time

Published: February 4, 2008 (Originally published: February 4, 2008)
Q

I love your teachings on Time, how God is outside Time and sees it all from beginning to end.

When we as believers are Raptured when Christ meets us in the air and we go to be with Him, will we not step outside the physical 4th dimension of Time and and meet our Saviour. Then 7 years later after Tribulation on the earth we will return with Him in His Second Coming to Earth.

Now as we go in the Rapture only to return 7 years later to begin the Millennium, will 7 years have passed for we who were not on the earth going through the Tribulation? If we have been with Christ outside of the restraints of Time and Space on earth and are in eternity with Him, couldn’t we spend as much time as we like with Him. Getting to know Him, going through the Bema Seat Judgments, having a feast and getting to know our loved ones who passed on as believers, along with learning from all the characters of the Bible we’ve longed to talk with. We could spend a 1000 years with our Savior and then be re-injected into time at the exact point when Christ returns at His Second Coming? What are your thoughts on this?
