This week in India 4-24-21

This has been our most hectic week yet. One whole village on full lockdown and our volunteers must bring in all the food and medicine they need. Eight people have tested positive for covid. Thank you for praying with us!

COVID testing and help

It has been a big week here. Everyone was tested. Eight total have tested positive. This post will give you more details.

We gathered a few for prayer and planning. The entire village is now in full quarantine, so no one can leave to work at all. So we are bringing in 100% of the food and medicine they need for two weeks. We have helped them with necessities regularly, but we’ve never been fully responsible for every need. Please pray for all who are sick. Pray for protection for our families and our volunteers. And pray for continued provision, so that we provide food and any medicine needed for the entire village. Thank you!!

She was the first to show symptoms and test positive. It was miraculous when we were able to get her a spot at the local hospital, both for her care and so that COVID cannot spread. This is the local ambulance sent to pick her up. She is trying to put on a brave face here, but she was feeling terrible and pretty scared. Going to the hospital alone in the pandemic is pretty unsettling. But we’ve had several more test positive since then, and Kamalammama has joined her in the women’s covid wing.

Getting groceries

We’ve been buying so many groceries since the beginning of the pandemic, but this is the most we’ve ever needed! Our volunteers are amazing, and step up to serve, no matter the long hours. Please pray for them for continued strength. We’re buying hard-boiled eggs in bulk to make sure everyone has protein for lunch already covered.

We had a brief round of classes on Monday before more people tested positive. We’ve now stopped all gatherings completely in this village.

The kids made watches for craft time!

Our Church Service

We held a service last Sunday at the church for the other two villages that aren’t quarantined right now. It’s been a blessing that we’ve been keeping the groups that don’t live together separate!

At the Village

We got a service to come and sanitize the village!

And kept our distance, but prayed for everyone.

Here is Shilpa with her cast. It’s been a hectic, worrisome week for so many here. Please pray for peace and health and protection.

Rakkumamma, one of our favorite grandmas, is healthy and still doing well! She was recovering from tuberculosis last year at the beginning of the pandemic, but she has been healthy!

Giving out eggs for lunch for everyone!

And that’s our week in India! Thank you for praying, for your love and support of those we serve together.
