More On Sanctification

Published: March 4, 2022 (Originally published: February 10, 2014)
Q

I believe in justification being a one time thing. But people in my small group say you have to be sanctified also and that takes time. Could you please expand on what sanctification is and whether it’s something we do or God does. I would like to know how long sanctification takes and how do we know when it’s been completed enough to now feel confident that we’re going to make it to glorification.

The Carcass And The Vultures Of Matt. 24:28

Published: March 7, 2022 (Originally published: February 6, 2014)
Q

In Matt. 24 Jesus is talking about the taking up of the Church. I have no problem with any of it, but this one verse, 28, has me scratching my proverbial head. Why does He say, “For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together” (KJV). Is that a mention of the Judgement gathering, or is He simply referring to the dead rising first and the angels going to and fro bringing us out? I thought, too, he might simply be parablizing verse 27. What is your take on this?

Who Did Joshua See?

Published: March 7, 2022 (Originally published: February 8, 2014)
Q

In Joshua 5:13-15, Joshua met a figure that appeared out of nowhere with a sword in his hands. Joshua asked who is he and he answered he is the Commander of the Army of lord, Joshua fell and worshiped him. Since angels like Micheal doesn’t need human to worship, that figure couldn’t be an angel. Maybe you can enlightened me on this point.

Blessing God

Published: March 7, 2022 (Originally published: February 9, 2014)
Q

I’ve been a Christian for nearing 45 years. There’s one thing that I can’t wrap my head around. We’re to come to God with our needs. We’re to praise Him, thank Him and worship Him. It’s my understanding that we’re also to “bless Him.” He blesses us all of the time. I see it in my life all the time. He is everything that is good. He’s able to bless us. What I don’t understand is how we’re supposed to “bless” Him! How do we do that?

Light On Day 1, Sun On Day 4. How Can This Be?

Published: March 8, 2022 (Originally published: February 5, 2014)
Q

In Genesis 1:3 it says, “And God said let there be light and there was light. ” It was day 1. In Genesis 1:16 it says, “And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.” It was day 4. So if God didn’t create the Sun and Moon until day 4, what was the light He created on day 1? Also, evenings and morning are determined by the rising and setting of the sun are they not? But if the sun was not created until the fourth day then what determined the days before that?

Why Teach The Resurrection?

Published: March 8, 2022 (Originally published: February 5, 2014)
Q

I have believed in a Rapture for many years now but have this nagging question: If the Rapture includes the dead in Christ as well as those still remaining alive why do we teach about the Resurrection? Since we will be in Heaven with the Lord and there is no longer death does the Rapture not cancel out the Resurrection? After all only the wicked shall remain to be judged but there are two resurrections: that of the righteous and then the unjust. It is appointed unto man once to die and then the Judgment.

Is The New Jerusalem Heaven?

Published: March 8, 2022 (Originally published: February 7, 2014)
Q

Am I correct in thinking that the New Jerusalem is not actually heaven? Will the New Jerusalem be our home for eternity or does anyone know for sure? The Bible does not give any hints , as far as I know, as to what will happen after the Millennium, so are we to assume that it will be our eternal home?

The Lamb As It Had Been Slain

Published: March 9, 2022 (Originally published: February 4, 2014)
Q

In Revelation 5, John weeps bitterly (or convulsively) for no one is found worthy to open the scroll. The passages are clear that nobody in Heaven, on Earth, nor under the Earth was (or is) worthy. Where then was Jesus before He appeared and took the scroll? John seems to indicate that the Lamb appeared freshly slain. So was John taken back to crucifixion? It seems while Jesus was on the cross bearing sin, He wouldn’t be technically worthy. Or was John in the future, and at the time John was weeping Jesus was in transit to the Father and was not found at that particular moment.

Did Jesus Resurrect Himself?

Published: March 9, 2022 (Originally published: March 5, 2014)
Q

In John 8:10-11 Jesus is quoted: “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” Was Jesus really saying, “If you continue in your sin of adultery, I may not be here to save you again from stoning?” In reality we can not stop sinning all together until we are perfected in heaven.

For another question: John 10:30 Jesus said, “I and the Father are one.” Does this mean that when Jesus was raised from the dead on the third day after his death, he in fact raised himself from the dead? I believe the Bible says that God the Father raised him but he is God also.
