John The Baptist And Elijah

Q

I was just curious why it is that when John the Baptist identifies himself in the Gospel of John as the one who was a voice crying out in the desert he attributed the scripture to Isaiah and not Malachi?

Did Jesus Visit Hell?

Published: February 7, 2016
Q

Love your website, I don’t know if this question has been asked before, sorry if it has.

After Jesus was crucified and before he was resurrected, did He go down and visit Hell? I have heard that in the past and wondered if you could explain to me where Jesus was (his spirit) at the time between burial and resurrection.

Thank you so much and God Bless your ministry.

Is A Believer Marrying An Unbeliever A Sin?

Published: February 7, 2016
Q

My question is on 2 Corinthians 6:14 which states “Do not be unequally yoked together with an unbeliever.” Does that mean, if believer does marry unbeliever, he or she is committing a sin? Or is this just a recommendation?

Judging The Church

Q

Jack, what is your take on 1 Peter 4:17? This sounds to me like judgment is going to begin with the church. Where and how is this judgment going to take place? Thanks for your time!

Who Are The Ungodly?

Published: February 7, 2016
Q

You have talked previously about Hades being the place where people wait to be judged. Who exactly are the ungodly? Are they all non-Jews or just people who were disobedient to God? My question to you is, what happens to people who were followers of God but not part of the covenant relationship between God and His chosen people? Also where do non-believers go today – do they also await judgment with those from the past.

Why Did God Do These Things?

Published: February 4, 2016
Q

Why would God want to have someone killed in order to let everyone else get into heaven? Why such a brutal death? And where did the people from the Old Testament go when they died before Jesus came down to earth? How could they get into heaven? And how was there such a misunderstanding among the Jews about Jesus being their Messiah? Where did it say how they would be able to recognize Him? How could God allow so many people to go to Hell? How do we know for certain that all of these things that were written so long ago are even reliable, truthful sources?

Two Cups Of Wine

Published: February 4, 2016
Q

My son and I were swapping bible verses when we came upon an apparent discrepancy. In John 19:30 it appears Jesus drank what the soldiers offered. However, in Mark 15:23 it appears He didn’t and the other two gospels don’t mention anything about it. I’m sure there is a good reason why there appears a discrepancy but can’t think what! Could it be that both the verses were referring to two different drinks. We would appreciate your help in understanding this matter.

The Lazarus Phenomenon

Published: February 4, 2016
Q

I just watched a program on (a major Christian cable network), called the Lazarus Phenomenon, I know that scripture says absent from the body present with the Lord, but could you explain what this is all about? Is it just an end times deception?

Satan’s Dominion And God’s Sovereignty

Published: February 4, 2016
Q

I listened to your audio study on Daniel 10-11 last night and came away with two questions for you:

1. Why was Isaiah killed? 2. As far as your discussion of and references to 1 John 5:19 (“the whole world is under the control of the evil one”) and Matthew 4:8, where Jesus did not dispute Satan’s claim to the kingdoms of the earth, how do you square that with God’s sovereignty? Satan had to ask God’s permission to afflict Job. Romans 8:28 says that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, and 1 Thes. 5:18 says that in all things, we are to give thanks.

A Confusing Verse

Published: February 4, 2016
Q

I was reading “The End Times According To Ezekiel, Part 1” , and came upon something that you had written. I wanted to get your opinion on this because not only is it confusing for me but possibly for many others who may have read this article. Below I have listed the verse and then after that I have pasted your comment.

And they built the high places of Baal that are in the valley of Ben-hinnom to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I had not commanded them nor had it entered My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin. (Jer. 32:35).

“Here’s a reminder of the cause of Israel’s judgment. The shedding of blood refers to their practice of child sacrifice, a form of idol worship so abhorrent to God that He said it never entered His mind that they would do such a detestable thing.” (Jere. 32:35)

I know that God knows everything and that verse confused me. Thank you for taking the time to explain this.
