Did Paul Teach Against Cremation?

Published: June 20, 2022
Q

I have read your commentaries on the questions regarding cremation, and the Biblical/Christian perspective. My question is about the phrase in 1-Corinthians 13:3 “and though I give my body to be burned…” I would like to know what you think is the significance of that phrase, and what, if any, implication it may have. It almost sounds, to me, like some kind of forboding finality to be avoided. When pondering the question of cremation, for myself or my loved ones, my mind goes back to that phrase, and I wonder “why is it there and what does it mean; and is there an implication to cremation that should warn us to avoid it?”

Accessing The Power

Q

My question is concerning the Holy Spirit. My Sunday school teacher asked this question last Sunday and we are still talking about it. Why do Christians who are sealed with the Holy Spirit struggle through life? One of my classmates said its because most Christians don’t know they are sealed when they first believed, or don’t know how to access the power of the Holy Spirit. I’ve struggled with this in my own mind. I’m just not sure I understand everything I should about the Holy Spirit. Can you help?

Believing Psalm 66

Published: June 17, 2022
Q

I just wanted to let you know that your writing on Psalm 66 was very endearing and very timely. We have been going thru some really rough times, in debt and with no income for eight months. We turned it over to the Lord and are not without, but we are getting close. Our small house that we feel the Lord led us to is now on the market.

However, my point here is that Psalm 66 and your writing are just where we are. He has always taken care of us and always will. Why we are at this spot at our age 60 is something that we have gone over and over, but beyond that, He is here always, and you just brought that home to us in this Psalm. Thank you.

Paul The False Apostle?

Q

I read an article on another site I frequent regarding Paul, specifically calling him a false apostle. Have you heard similar claims and have you read this person’s work?

Physical Or Spiritual Healing?

Published: June 17, 2022
Q

A teacher I greatly respect wrote the following. “The word translated “healed” can mean either spiritual or physical healing. However, the contexts of Isaiah 53 and 1 Peter 2 make it clear that it is speaking of spiritual healing. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24). The verse is talking about sin and righteousness, not sickness and disease. Therefore, being “healed” in both these verses is speaking of being forgiven and saved, not physically healed.”

How Can They Claim To Be Christians?

Published: June 16, 2022
Q

I agree that being reborn of the spirit is all that is ever required to be saved and the only good works that we can do are those requested by the Lord. I know that many of us often either don’t hear or ignore His Voice. What I question is what about those who refuse to listen or even believe His word. Can anyone be reborn and still think like that? I know that there is always hope for them, but how can they claim to be Christians?

Did The Gates Of Hades Prevail?

Published: June 16, 2022
Q

You have visited the seven churches in Turkey which are spoken of in the Book of Revelation. Paul spread the gospel to many cities in Turkey and wrote some of his best letters to the churches in Turkey, and the disciples were first called Christians (Acts 11:26) in Antioch – which is in Turkey. Considering Jesus said that the gates of Hades shall not prevail against the church (Matt 16:18), why is Turkey so predominantly Islam?

The Meaning Of Gentiles

Q

Are you serious about this word “gentiles”? Please look it up in the dictionary. It is a horrible word. I must tell you that this word does not appear in the Torah. It is a creation of a bad translation and it must be corrected. Remember GOD said “not a single word is to be changed”.

God’s Calling Or Religious Works?

Published: June 15, 2022
Q

I believe that I am forgiven of my sins by the blood of Jesus and that this was a gift of grace from God because I don’t deserve it. I also am acutely aware that we are not saved by works nor can we maintain salvation through works because Jesus paid the price once and for all, completely. That said, I have a compulsion to tell other people when I can about salvation through Jesus and the fulfillment of prophecy concerning Him and the end times. How do I discern whether what I feel compelled to is of the Lord Jesus or just human works? Should I stop what I am doing? The idea of being left behind after the rapture has led me to tears.
