Ask a Bible Teacher

Saul, Samuel, And The Witch Of Endor

Published: November 18, 2016
Q

First I would like to say I love your website and the truths of God’s word that are revealed through your teaching. I read your site weekly. Now for my questions. Was it really the prophet Samuel that supposedly came back to life in 1 Samuel 28? If not, who was it then? And did Saul go to heaven when he was killed? This subject is a tough one our Sunday School class is currently tackling and we would appreciate your scriptural insight and teaching from Gods word. Thank you.

Was King Solomon Saved?

Published: November 18, 2016
Q

I like reading your Q&A during lunch and noticed a post concerning King’s Saul’s salvation. That brought to my mind a question I have had concerning King Solomon’s salvation. That led me to so a search of “Solomon” on your site wondering if anyone had asked you about King Solomon’s salvation. We know God gave him wisdom beyond any other man and Solomon also acquired great wealth, but Based on 1 Kings 11:33 I wonder the same about King Solomon.

How Can We Pray For Them?

Published: November 18, 2016
Q

Could you please school me on the dilemma that is presented in the bible i.e. If we are to pray for the peace of Jerusalem yet (in this day and age) we know that violence and all kinds of bad things are to come upon that people and city in order for the plan to come to fruition as He says.

And what about praying for our leaders? I find it almost impossible to do when it seems that (our leaders) were put into power because of what we as a nation deserve. I don’t really know what to say about this.

Called By A Dead Friend?

Published: November 18, 2016
Q

I recently heard a preacher talking about how he was called to preach. He said a dead friend was sent to him and told him that God had called him to preach. I know the Bible talks about angels visiting us, but do you think God would allow someone who has died to come back and talk with us? I consider this different than when Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus. What do you think?

The Great Multitude of Rev. 7

Published: November 18, 2016
Q

In Revelation 7:14 the group of people are said to be those who came out of the “great tribulation” yet the 2nd half of the seven years hasn’t started. Great Tribulation is the same word Jesus used in Mt. 24:21 when referring to the 2nd half of that seven year period. What do you make of that?

Does God Give Us Just The Good Things We Ask For?

Published: November 18, 2016
Q

Can you give me your understanding of the scripture Luke Chapter 11 verses 9 -15. We had our men’s bible study last night and one of the guys is stuck on this. He believes that this scripture (the ask and it will be given section) means that you can ask for anything and God will give it to you. Bad or good. I tried to explain to him that Jesus was talking of the Holy Spirit and Faith. But I would appreciate any further depth on this.

I Am A Closet Christian

Published: November 18, 2016
Q

Thank you for this wonderful website that has been answering my questions.

For years now I have been living as a Christian but in a Buddhist family. It’s quite sad that my family strongly disallows me from being a Christian, and so I have been hiding the truth from them. I really don’t know what to do at times. I’m afraid God won’t accept me because I have to live like a Buddhist, and do things that seem to be against him, but yet in my heart, I really hope I can live like a Christian. Will God still accept me even after all this? What should I do?

And as a Christian who is pretty restricted, I do not have access to the Bible or go to church. Even if I do go to the internet to read the Bible, I find it hard to understand what God is trying to say. Sometimes, I just head on to some good Christian blogs (like this) and read questions that people ask. Then again, how do I be a good Christian when I do not have the knowledge to be one?

Reaching The Mentally Handicapped

Published: November 18, 2016
Q

You are one of the Bible teachers that I respect a lot, and I believe God truly anoints you since He has blessed me in so many ways thru your wonderful teaching. I have a question regarding salvation for people who are retarded or in a state of mental illness which makes them incapable of understanding the Gospel. How can we reach these people so they can be saved? Will they still be saved if they never accept Christ as their Lord and Savior?

Israel And The Church, Same Or Different?

Published: November 11, 2016
Q

I have a question regarding the so called “distinction” between Israel and the church. I understand that all dispensational scholars say that ethnic Israel has specific promises given to them (such as land etc) that apply ONLY to them. However, as I read Galatians 3:26-29 this does not seem to be the case:

You are all sons of God through faith in Jesus Christ…If you belong to christ, then YOU ARE ABRAHAM’S SEED, and heirs according to the promise.

Doesn’t this say that there’s no difference between Israel and the Church?

How Were Old Testament Believers Saved?

Q

Since we are saved and won’t be judged because we believe in Jesus Christ as our savior then how will the people living before Jesus be handled, since they never had the chance to believe or not?
