Arminian Or Calvinist?
Published: January 29, 2025 (Originally published: December 7, 2006)I would like your ideas on Calvinism and Arminianism. I had someone ask me which I was, and I had never heard of Arminianism, so had to do a little research..I have heard of Calvinism but did not really get into it..I am not sure that I want to be labeled as either. I prefer to just be Christian.
OSAS And The Mark Of The Beast
Published: December 24, 2011 (Originally published: December 23, 2011)I am a relatively new Christian and have been troubled by the conditional versus eternal salvation issue since the beginning of my walk. Your website has provided me with tremendous relief from this problem and I am very grateful. However, it was recently brought to my attention by an advocate of conditional salvation that during the end times, that a single sin could be eternally damning – taking the mark of the beast. What about Christians who, in a moment of fear and weakness, accept the mark of the beast? Will they be forgiven, or will they have forfeited their salvation by that one act?
Take The Mark And Stay Saved?
Published: October 13, 2014 (Originally published: October 14, 2014)Let’s say a man gets saved after the rapture. For whatever reason, he accepts the mark of the beast. Will that man still be saved?
Interpreting James 5:19-20
Published: April 4, 2016 (Originally published: March 25, 2016)I have a question about James 5:19,20. I have just recently been confronted again by some dear relatives who have the strange idea that I no longer belong to God and they think it is their duty to restore me. When I mentioned Eternal Security they said I couldn’t prove it, so I gave them one of your articles and sent them away to study it.
In the mean time I was searching your site for something on James 5:19,20 and couldn’t find anything or possibly missed it. Do you have anything on this passage? Anything you can teach me on this will be greatly appreciated.
By the way, thank you so much for the Isaiah and Mark series, I have learned a great deal from them.
Search The Scriptures
Published: January 7, 2013 (Originally published: January 6, 2013)I have been following and loving your website for a long time and I truly agree with what you are saying about the topic of eternal security. Once saved, always saved or “OSAS”. Today I came across an article that shook my belief in OSAS somewhat. I am wondering what you think about this?
Are They Secure If They Don’t Believe It?
Published: January 21, 2016 (Originally published: January 24, 2016)I was saved in a church that taught the doctrine of Eternal Security. After a few years I moved to another city where I attended a church that seemed to be gospel centered but I discovered they are part of a denomination that believes we can lose our salvation. When I questioned this belief I was told that verses like John 3: 16, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 8:38-39 and others don’t mean our salvation is guaranteed. During the conversation the pastor also told me he was taught not to accept the prophecies of Revelation because they are only allegorical. When I asked about Daniel, Isaiah, and other prophesies concerning rapture, tribulation, and the millennium, he said these were also considered to be allegorical since they are to come in the future.
I stopped going there, but later I wondered if the saved people there are secure because they’re constantly being told they’re not. I also wondered how the pastors of that denomination can have a true relationship with Jesus Christ when they don’t accept Him and His Word totally as written?
More On Backsliders
Published: November 13, 2023 (Originally published: November 1, 2014)This is a salvation question. When we look at salvation in both the Old Testament and New Testament, a person is saved by faith: In the OT a person’s faith was based on the promised coming redeemer. In the NT, it is also based on faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Yet in your response to a question on “The Backslidden Believer“, you responded with “The Old Covenant was a conditional relationship based on obedience and a person who became disobedient was said to have turned away from the Lord.” Are you saying that those saved in the OT was based on works and not faith – somewhat confused – can you please clarify?
The Letter to the Hebrews: Chapter 10
Published: March 19, 2017 (Originally published: March 16, 2017)Hebrews 10 is another chapter people use to deny the doctrine of Eternal Security (OSAS). Are they right, or have they misinterpreted the writer’s intentions? We take an in depth look and see what it really says.
Will Anyone Worry About Salvation In Eternity?
Published: January 6, 2015 (Originally published: January 7, 2015)After the Millennial reign of Christ, and the banishment of Satan to the Lake of Fire, I assume eternity also begins for all believers who are on earth. Will it be possible for anyone who resides on the New Earth to lose their salvation? Will it always be a faith plus works combination for them to maintain their salvation, even in eternity? Or will their salvation ever be secure?
A Secret Jesus Couldn’t Reveal, Follow Up
Published: December 30, 2014 (Originally published: December 30, 2014)Re: A Secret Jesus Couldn’t Reveal. We do not understand your statement, “Blessings like salvation by grace through faith alone, eternal security, and especially the rapture, never have and never will be offered to Israel.” We understand that only the Church will be raptured, but how does the Jew receive salvation if not thru faith alone?
