Why Did God Bother?

Published: August 12, 2016 (Originally published: August 23, 2011)
Q

In your post, Man’s Choice or God’s? you ask, “How could He say these things if He had created some who couldn’t choose to be saved?” But, He DOES know when He creates some that they will choose to not be saved. If He foreknows this, then it is as if they can’t choose to be saved, because He creates them and yet knows they’re not going to end up with Him. It seems like a conundrum. On the one hand, He lets many be born who will not accept His offer of salvation, and on the other hand, we’re told that it is not His will that they be this way. But, then, why bother to go through all of this with humanity?

Who Do We Address?

Published: July 31, 2016 (Originally published: August 23, 2006)
Q

I continue to be amazed at your abilities and your willingness to share. Thank you!

I have a question about the Trinity. Does it matter which member of the Trinity one addresses? I made a comment to a pastor, at a church picnic, that God was present with us. He denied it and said that God was on His throne in heaven. If God is omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient then what difference does it make by which name to use?

I have the witness of the Holy Spirit within me, I claim Jesus in my heart, and I pray to God, so what is the appropriateness of address in any given situation?

Wants It But Can’t Believe It?

Published: August 12, 2016 (Originally published: August 10, 2010)
Q

What about the person who wants to be saved, who asks to be saved, who prays to be saved, but whose life and circumstances do not allow him to do the totally irrational thing of truly believing. What about that person who, no matter how much he wants salvation, and prays for it, finds himself simply unable to believe?

The Great White Throne Judgment

Published: August 12, 2016 (Originally published: August 10, 2010)
Q

A the end of the Millennium, who will be resurrected? Will they all be judged at the Great White Throne? Will we witness this? that is, will we see the resurrected before the Throne? Will they all be sent to Hell? Some have said we will be aware of their punishment; that we will be taken to see the damned and witness their condition. In Eternity, will we, can we, be aware of the damned?

The Poor In Spirit

Published: August 12, 2016 (Originally published: August 11, 2010)
Q

I am struggling with Matthew 5:3 where Jesus says, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” I also noticed that spirit is with a small s and not a capitol S. Could you please give me some insight into what Jesus was saying here as I really struggle to understand this verse.

Selecting Elders And Overseers

Published: August 17, 2016 (Originally published: August 11, 2010)
Q

The Church I attend is small but well established. There are 60 -70 members with about 40 who regularly attend. We are currently trying to establish a group of elders or overseers but most have been married and divorced in the past including the Pastor. We recognize this as wrong and have asked for forgiveness and have moved on. Some have remarried some have not. The members in our church who have the ability to help make strong spiritual decisions or give advice is limited. How do we set a standard for an elder or overseer?

Isaiah 45:7 speaks of God creating evil. How can this be so? Why would he do so anyway?

Who Are The Saints?

Published: August 12, 2016 (Originally published: August 14, 2010)
Q

I have been studying the book of Daniel and came across a verse that has me puzzled. I am of the belief that Christian believers will be raptured before the tribulation (pre-trib) starts but this particular statement has me baffled. In the second half of Daniel 7:25 it says: “The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times, and half a time.” Aren’t we (Christian believers) the saints?

If this is so, this sentence sounds like it means we are handed over to satan during the tribulation? Am I missing or misinterpreting something here? Thank you so much for opening yourself up to Gods wisdom and insight.

Do We All Agree?

Published: August 12, 2016 (Originally published: August 14, 2010)
Q

I’ve accepted Christ as my savior and am a born again believer. Raised Baptist, I am now married to a Catholic man. We’ve talked much about salvation but his viewpoint is different from mine although he says he’s accepted the Lord as his savior. I understand that only God knows our hearts – but do the “words” (salvation, accept the Lord, etc.) used by different faiths mean the same thing?

Angry Over Pre-Trib

Published: August 12, 2016 (Originally published: August 17, 2010)
Q

Thank you for your site. It brings me great comfort. In these time I find I get the most anger not from the unsaved but more from Christians. They say the Pre-Trib Rapture is everything from an 1800’s fairy tale to the devils work and worse. Of course they are of post or no rapture beliefs themselves. I guess the question is why are they so angry at the pre trib rapture?
