Jesus And The Rapture. Follow Up

Published: April 7, 2014
Q

Re: John 11:25-26. Inferring the rapture from “Whoever lives and believes in me will never die” seems like a big stretch. Does the “whosoever” in John 3:16 exclude everyone but the Church? No. Sometimes you add personal thinking not drawn from a strict reading of the text. Sorry if I’ve missed something. “Will never die” implies eternal life; not the rapture.

Vegetarianism

Q

Is vegetarianism in the Bible? I read that Daniel went vegetarian to avoid eating sinful foods offered by the king. Jesus was a Nazarene. Weren’t they vegetarians? Jesus fed the people fish but it did not say that he actually ate it. The ten commandments say not to kill. Doesn’t that include animals?

Jesus And The Rapture

Q

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)

You say that Jesus never taught about the rapture, but in this passage doesn’t the phrase “whoever lives and believes in me will never die” refer to those who will be taken on the Rapture?

Appointed To Eternal Life?

Published: April 6, 2014
Q

RE: Acts 13:48. ” When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. ” Does this mean that there are some people appointed to be saved and others appointed for destruction?

Physical Or Spiritual?

Published: April 6, 2014
Q

I’ve always believed that our new heavenly body will be physical and still believe that but there is a verse in I Cor. that needs explaining to me. The verse is I Cor. 15:44 which says: “It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body…. ” This sounds like we will have a spiritual body, not a physical one. Please explain!

Get Behind Me Satan

Q

Peter didn’t like Jesus’ idea that He should come to Jerusalem to die. The Lord quickly identified who is really speaking there and said :”Get behind me, Satan”. Why did Satan want to stop the Lord from dying there, if he tried to kill Jesus from time when he was a baby?

Are The Church And Israel Separate?

Published: April 6, 2014
Q

On the Christian Forum I belong to, this statement was made: “Forget Matthew Henry commentaries and don’t force the bible say something it doesn’t say. There is, in truth, no such thing as “the church” (as defined since the 2nd century) mentioned in the bible whatsoever. That is a post-biblical (and quite intentional) error of translation that causes all kinds of contradictions of interpretation.”

This person went on to say that the word “Church” as translated in the all versions of Scripture is a deliberate attempt to separate Jews and Gentiles by the Catholic Church? Is this true?

Where Is My Faith?

Published: April 5, 2014
Q

I am a believer and a bible teacher. However, I struggle so badly with faith. For some reason I cannot grasp that God loves me and wants the best for me and He will carry me through no matter what. Does this mean that I am not saved if I cannot let go and completely trust?

Is Belief A Work?

Published: April 5, 2014
Q

I watched a show where the preacher claimed the Bible says that belief is not going to get you saved and that belief is a work. How do we know we are saved? How do we know for sure we are doing God’s will and not being selfish? I am scared that I have missed out all these years. If believing is not part of “faith” then what is Faith?

Eternal Sonship Of Jesus?

Published: April 5, 2014
Q

Would you please help me with the understanding of Ps 2:7. There are those that teach that there is no eternal sonship and then this verse is quoted. I believe that our Lord Jesus was the Word and that the Word was with God and the word was God. This Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us. That all things were created by Him and for Him. The Bible also teaches that He was before all things and by Him all things consist. Does this verse refer to a time when the Father defined the role of the Son or is there another meaning?
