More On Collective Salvation

Published: November 16, 2012
Q

You said “The concept of collective salvation is not Biblical. Nor is it possible for a person with God’s mark to transfer its benefits to someone with out it.” With regard to Abraham and his family, why would God extend this mark as a covenant to some (such as infants) who may not have ever formally recognized the implication of God and His covenant, while in Ezekiel, we read that the mark was given to those who mourned and lamented over the state of their country. It appears that in the first instance, the mark was “decreed,” while in the latter instance, the mark was given on a case by case basis to those whose hearts were right before God.

144,000 Servants Of God

Q

12000 from each of the 12 Tribes of Israel cannot be 144000 Jews. Judah was, as you know, only one of the 12 Tribes. The remaining 132000 must come from the 11 other Tribes and are not Jews. I would be comfortable reading 144000 Israelis as this once included all 12 Tribes. Correct me if I am wrong, but when Judah separated from Israel were there not 2 other smaller Tribes who joined with Judah, Dan being one?

Do Angels Have Sex In Heaven?

Published: November 15, 2012
Q

I just finished reading your article about ‘fallen angels’ and it brings to my mind a question about Jesus’ teaching about marriage. Jesus’ said that there would be no marriage in Heaven and I’m content with that. My question is, given that these fallen angels had sex with earthly women, do you think that at least angels engage in sex in heaven?

Giving To The Poor

Q

I can tell you why I voted for Obama even though I am a Christian. First let me say neither candidate was a Christian. Then I asked myself whose policies show the most concern for the needy as God has directed as I do not see churches being able to carry this burden totally and in fact most do very little in this area. What do you think?

Grace Plus Work?

Published: November 13, 2012
Q

Our pastor often preaches that salvation is through acceptance of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and nothing else. Therefore, Full Gospel churches and others who preach salvation plus something else are wrong. Are Christians who follow salvation plus whatever really saved?

Did Jesus Have An Older Brother?

Published: November 13, 2012
Q

If Mary was a virgin when conceiving Jesus, and Jesus was not the oldest brother, then how do you account for the existence of his brothers and Mary still be virgin? I know that Mary wasn’t perpetually Virgin like the Catholic church wants us to believe, but If I remember right, the text does say that James was Jesus’ older half-brother. How can that be accounted for?

In The Days Of These Kings

In Daniel 2:44, he said, ‘and in the days of these kings shall God of heaven set up a kingdom….’ Which kings is he referring to here? And when did (or will) this happen?

Intelligent Design

Published: November 12, 2012
Q

My daughter is a freshman in college, majoring in a science field. One of her professors is requiring the students to write essays on “why intelligent design is wrong”. My daughter says he frequently rants about how those who don’t subscribe to evolutionary theory are stupid, and he has posters up supporting his position.

Her faith is strong (thank God), and she thinks his rantings are laughable. She has decided to write the essay he wants, but in a way that shows that these aren’t necessarily her beliefs. She feels if she doesn’t do the paper this way, she might get a poor grade in the class, which would jeopardize her getting into a pre-professional program later. I think her idea is logical, but I wonder if she’s “taking the easy way out”, and if she should stand up for her faith, regardless of the repercussions to her academic career. What do you think?
