Grace Plus Work?

Published: November 13, 2012
Q

Our pastor often preaches that salvation is through acceptance of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and nothing else. Therefore, Full Gospel churches and others who preach salvation plus something else are wrong. Are Christians who follow salvation plus whatever really saved?

Did Jesus Have An Older Brother?

Published: November 13, 2012
Q

If Mary was a virgin when conceiving Jesus, and Jesus was not the oldest brother, then how do you account for the existence of his brothers and Mary still be virgin? I know that Mary wasn’t perpetually Virgin like the Catholic church wants us to believe, but If I remember right, the text does say that James was Jesus’ older half-brother. How can that be accounted for?

In The Days Of These Kings

Q

In Daniel 2:44, he said, ‘and in the days of these kings shall God of heaven set up a kingdom….’ Which kings is he referring to here? And when did (or will) this happen?

Intelligent Design

Published: November 12, 2012
Q

My daughter is a freshman in college, majoring in a science field. One of her professors is requiring the students to write essays on “why intelligent design is wrong”. My daughter says he frequently rants about how those who don’t subscribe to evolutionary theory are stupid, and he has posters up supporting his position.

Her faith is strong (thank God), and she thinks his rantings are laughable. She has decided to write the essay he wants, but in a way that shows that these aren’t necessarily her beliefs. She feels if she doesn’t do the paper this way, she might get a poor grade in the class, which would jeopardize her getting into a pre-professional program later. I think her idea is logical, but I wonder if she’s “taking the easy way out”, and if she should stand up for her faith, regardless of the repercussions to her academic career. What do you think?

What is the difference between being called, being appointed, and remaining. In 1 Cor. 7:20 Paul said “Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called.” What did he mean?

Wouldn’t Plain Language Have Been Better?

Q

I’ve always wondered why God had John describe everything he saw using symbols so often instead of plain language that would’ve been easier to understand?

The Kingdom Of God

Published: November 11, 2012
Q

I just finished reading your article on Gospel of the kingdom, and it seems to me that , according to what I read, the period of grace which the present church is enjoying is the period between the 69th and 70th week of Daniel’s prophecy. What is the difference and / or similarity between kingdom of God and the present church of God? Another one is that, the kingdom of God prophesied by Daniel, is it a physical kingdom or a spiritual one?

What’s An Evangelical?

Published: November 10, 2012
Q

I receive an email from a well know Christian man daily. Today he seemed to be scolding Christians for helping Pres. Obama get re-elected. I asked the Lord for guidance and voted for Obama because I believe this is what I was supposed to do. I would really like to know your thoughts on this issue.

Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem

Published: November 10, 2012
Q

We are told to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. I wonder, in light of prophesies that place Jerusalem at the focal point of end-times violence, isn’t praying for peace there, especially these days, asking God to bring about a condition in direct contradiction of His own revelation?
