More On The Trinity
Published: March 18, 2024 (Originally published: March 25, 2016)If we are to understand that Jesus, God, and the Spirit are three and the same, then why would Jesus give us the illusion of going to pray to another being, unless if this is only to set an example for us?
But then why would He go to pray to another higher being? This would seem to create more confusion than clarity, especially if we are to believe that all three are the same being.
Bringing My Autistic Son To Jesus
Published: March 15, 2024 (Originally published: September 26, 2015)My son is 11 years old and has high functioning autism. He does average in school, poorly in social settings, and excels in the area of art. While he is not mentally disabled (therefore “unaccountable”), he is not quite fully “there” either. He seems to understand enough but when I try to tell him about Jesus, it’s like I’m talking to a wall.
At Sunday School he just sits there silently without interacting with anyone, even the teacher. When I talk about Jesus, he forgets everything I said within a matter of minutes even when I explain it as if he was five. When we pray, he never has any idea how to pray so I have to lead him every time. He is very underdeveloped.
I’m so scared for him. I want to know he is saved. If the rapture happens in our lifetime, I want him to be included. He is my heart and it terrifies me that I will fail him in the one area that matters more than anything. Spiritually, what can I do other than pray? I just bought some children Bible story books so I am hoping those will help him learn but nothing has worked yet.
Turn It Over To Jesus
Published: March 15, 2024 (Originally published: August 28, 2011)What does it mean when Christian friends of mine tell me to turn all my troubles over to Jesus, or lay it (them) at the foot of the cross. I’m going through some difficult personal issues and all I hear from my Christian friends is that I need to pray about it and lay my troubles at the foot of the cross or turn it all over to Jesus. When I ask them to explain, they can’t. They just tell me that Jesus will take care of it. Does this mean I say a prayer about my circumstance, tell Jesus that I am turning it all over to him, and then ignore the problem and move on hoping the Lord will take care of the issue?
Explain The Trinity Please
Published: March 15, 2024 (Originally published: July 10, 2006)In the article, “Will God Punish Me for Praying to Jesus?“, you say that God is the same as Jesus. I have always had difficulty understanding the trinity. I heard someone say it is sort of like water…Water can have three forms, liquid, gas and ice. They are all different, but they are all water. The same is true for God. He has three forms, Himself, the Holy Spirit and Jesus. Would you say this is a good example of God’s trinity?
Why must we pray to God and ask “in the name of Jesus Christ?” Is this simply to acknowledge what Jesus (God) done for us and that we trust in it?
Help Me Stop Smoking!
Published: March 14, 2024 (Originally published: February 18, 2016)I love your site & am blessed by it all the time. Thank you for all you do. I know you can help me with my question and worry. I love the Lord with all my heart & my mind. I always want to please Him. And pray everything I do & say will give Him the Glory.
But I’m a smoker & can’t seem to quit. I’ve prayed that the Lord will take the addiction away & I pray for Him to give me the strength to do it. But I still smoke. I don’t want to because I know my body is a temple & the Holy Spirit dwells in me. I’m truly upset about this because I know I’m grieving Him. And I don’t want to be smoking & miss the Rapture because I know it can happen at any moment. I want to please my LORD in all things. Please help with any advice & Please pray for me. I pray to be close to my Father & my Lord Jesus & I know smoking is hindering this. Thank you for your time & will be looking for your answer.
Angry With God
Published: March 14, 2024 (Originally published: October 15, 2015)What do you think is the best way to approach a family member who is an unbeliever and is so angry about losing a loved one that she has cursed God. She has also been utterly indoctrinated in a liberal college Theology course that scoffs at true Christianity and is anti Israel. I pray for her daily but fear she is very close to being lost forever. I am grateful for your ministry and any thoughts.
Will God Punish Me For Praying To Jesus?
Published: March 14, 2024 (Originally published: July 1, 2006)I have always felt very close to Jesus as if He is always sitting right beside me.
When I think of God, he seems further away somehow. I look at Him as I do my earthly father who is stern and strict. I always address 99 % of my prayers to Jesus, even though I love God, I don’t feel that same one on one connection. I am afraid that he is going to punish me for this, but I don’t know how to change my way of feeling this way.
I have been listening to all your mp3 studies and they kind of make me understand a little why I feel this way. I take them as we are all children of God, but He will be concerned more with his covenant people than the Church. When the final judgment comes, will we be united with God and his covenant people on Earth, or will we still be in the New Jerusalem hovering above?
How Did Rahab Escape?
Published: March 13, 2024 (Originally published: April 11, 2009)Just like many others, I feel inclined to start this e-mail by thanking you for your ministry and for your dedication to digging deeper and helping others come to a better understanding of the Lord and His Word. Also, thanks for the answers you’ve provided to the questions I’ve already asked you; they were quite helpful. The thing that has me thoroughly confused today is Rahab’s house, described in Joshua 2:15, which says “Then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was on the city wall; she dwelt on the wall.”
You can probably see where this question is going. How did the Israelites spare the lives of Rahab and her family if they were inside of a house on top of a wall that collapsed right before the city was defeated?
Is Today’s Israel The Same As The Biblical One?
Published: March 13, 2024 (Originally published: August 31, 2006)I have a question. I have searched Scripture to try and find where God told the UN to establish a State and name it Israel. Is the State established in 1948 the same Israel talked about in the Bible? A friend asked me to Pray for Israel, and I’m willing to do that, but I am confused as to who Israel really is. She does not know either, not really.
Joshua 1:4 speaks to what God told Joshua. There is so much confusion in this world, I am seeking to find out what is truth from God’s Word. Can you help by providing me with Biblical information/Scripture?
Last Names In The Bible
Published: March 12, 2024 (Originally published: June 2, 2016)I just read an article about Joshua. It gave his last name (ben Nun) I was intrigued by this because the other day I was just thinking about how the Bible didn’t use last names and wondering how and when they got started. Do you have any insight on this? Do you know any of the last names of characters in the Bible?
Hyphenated Names
Published: March 12, 2024 (Originally published: August 22, 2012)I’ve been following a debate among two friends regarding married women who hyphenate their last name. One thinks it isn’t appropriate, according to the word of God. I know when we are married through God’s will no man shall separate us. I also know that we women shall submit to our husband. But what does hyphenating our last name have to do with marriage bonding? Is it a dishonor to God? Is it a sin?
Understanding Psalm 36:1-4
Published: March 11, 2024 (Originally published: February 23, 2013)I’m currently reading the Psalms. In Psalm 36:1, David says “An oracle is within my heart…” would the oracle be the Holy Spirit?
How Can I Gain Understanding?
Published: March 11, 2024 (Originally published: February 17, 2013)It appears to me that there will always be things pertaining to GOD that I will not know or understand regardless of the amount of study and prayer I engage in. What is a believer to do in these instances when what has been revealed does not answer the questions that I have?
The Power Of Prayer
Published: March 11, 2024 (Originally published: December 31, 2006)What is the significance of praying? Does something begin to happen in the spiritual realm when we pray that we don’t see? If God knows our needs before we even ask, why pray? I understand the need to show our dependence upon God, but what is going on when we pray?
Does God Function That Way?
Published: March 8, 2024 (Originally published: February 24, 2013)I have a disabled son. He has a variety of problems. It seems new “conditions” keep getting added on. We have prayed for years for healing, but he just gets worse. A family member told me; “God’s plan for your son is a short life full of pain but He has a purpose in that pain”. Does God function that way?
God’s Chosen People. Follow Up
Published: March 8, 2024 (Originally published: February 21, 2013)You have given 4 reasons why God chose the Jews, which have all been fulfilled. Why then do we still refer to them as God’s Chosen or special people today? Please explain Gal.3:26-29 and the book of Ephesians plus many more which tell us we are now one.
Staying Close To God
Published: March 7, 2024 (Originally published: February 23, 2013)If Christ has forgiven our sins for eternity (Heb 10:14), and we now repent (change/renew our minds) and no longer ask forgiveness of sins, why does Christ teach us to ask “forgive our debts (sins) as we forgive our debtors”?
I’m Perplexed
Published: March 7, 2024 (Originally published: February 3, 2013)I’m writing because I’ve been rather perplexed for quite some time over the issue of those who profess Christ as Savior yet their behavior does not reflect having the Holy Spirit inside them. I’m certainly not standing in judgment because I too am a wretched sinner, but I see over and over in the church those who have “called on the name of the Lord” but show little evidence of the power and influence of the Spirit. Is it possible to claim Jesus as Savior but not be saved? I see in 2 Peter 2:1 that there are false prophets/teachers who deny the Lord Who bought them. Were they ever saved or not?
God’s Will Or Ours?
Published: March 6, 2024 (Originally published: June 10, 2015)Hi, I have a friend who watches a lot of TV “preachers”. He told me that when we pray, if we say, “let Your will be done” after we have made a request of God, that will ultimately cancel our prayer. He learned this from one of those televangelists. Where does this teaching come from?? Aren’t we supposed to pray in God’s will? If it isn’t within God’s will for us, why would we want it anyway?
Are We Really Forgiven?
Published: March 6, 2024 (Originally published: February 24, 2013)I was surfing the net, when I came upon a site where someone wrote with concerns about our sins not really being forgiven. The respondent quoted II Cor. 5:10, saying we’ll have to give an accounting of what we’ve done on earth, whether good or bad. I thought God has forgiven all our sins. What gives?
Habitual Sin
Published: March 6, 2024 (Originally published: February 14, 2013)I realize that we all – by definition – struggle with sin. But what if you’re someone who habitually commits X sin without any intention of stopping? I know all a believer has to do is ask in order for the Lord to forgive them, but I can’t help but feel I have no “right” to ask for forgiveness if my heart isn’t set on gradually erasing that sin out of my life; in other words, I’m asking the Lord to forgive me my sins, but not asking Him to help me with the strength to overcome them. Is that in itself another sin to confess?
OSAS And 2 Peter 1:5-10
Published: March 5, 2024 (Originally published: February 28, 2013)In 2 Peter 1:5-10, Peter says to make your calling and election sure by growing in your faith so one does not “fall away”. Does this mean I could lose my salvation?
Hindered Prayers
Published: March 5, 2024 (Originally published: May 2, 2010)I was listening to a program in which the host was listing things that can hinder our prayers. He said that if a wife prays for her husband to be saved just because it would make life easier for her, her prayers would be hindered. He also said that if we pray for the salvation of others for any other reason than that they would stop rebelling against the Lord and that the purpose of their salvation was solely for His glory, our prayers will be hindered. When I pray for others to be saved it is because I don’t want them to go to hell. Does praying with that as my motive hinder my prayers for their salvation? Thanks for taking the time to read and answer my question.
If You Are Faithful to Confess
Published: March 4, 2024 (Originally published: January 15, 2014)Believing And Asking
Published: March 4, 2024 (Originally published: February 25, 2013)Re: How Important Is Asking? Reading this made me ponder on my own circumstances when I got saved. Someone told me about Jesus one night years ago and I immediately became full of joy and excitement at the thought of asking the Lord to be my savior and to forgive my sins. I believed at that moment that Jesus was the only one who could save me. However, being a shy person I waited until I was alone (that same night) before I asked Jesus to save me and forgive my sins. So, my question is “was I saved in between the time I was first told and believed it until I officially asked for it less than an hour later?”
