More On The Temptation Of Jesus

Published: June 8, 2022 (Originally published: June 9, 2013)
Q

I believe Jesus was/is God because of a statement I think you made, can’t recall if it’s actually written Scripture or not but when you said, and I may be paraphrasing it, “In order for God to be a just God, He had to experience everything we experienced.” And to me, in order for God to experience everything we experience, He had to become like us.

Why Don’t They Understand This?

Published: June 8, 2022 (Originally published: June 10, 2013)
Q

In your book, “Seven Things You Have To Know …” You said, “History shows us that after the cross, major signs began to appear in the Temple indicating the obsolescence of its ritual. First, the veil was torn, opening the way to the Holy of Holies. Then, one of the seven lamps of the Menorah refused to stay lit. The main entrance door kept opening by itself. The ribbon attached to the scapegoat’s horn no longer turned from red to white at the moment of its death as it always had before. And there were others.” Where can I read about these signs that happened after the cross? Do Jews acknowledge these signs? If so, how do they still deny Jesus? Also, how did the Jews transition away from animal sacrifices?

Why Did God Allow This?

Published: June 8, 2022 (Originally published: June 14, 2013)
Q

Thank you for your website. It is truly a blessing. A question on something I have always wondered. Since God is all knowing, past, present, future, the alpha and omega – this means he already knew Satan would fall from heaven, challenge his deity, bring evil upon mankind, etc. Why would God allow this to happen to all of his creation including us humans?

Born Sinners

Published: June 9, 2022 (Originally published: June 11, 2013)
Q

Our Christian group has been discussing sin. Some say we are born with a sin nature and become sinners when we sin. Others say we are born sinners because we have a sin nature. What say you?

What Language Did Jesus Read In?

Published: June 9, 2022 (Originally published: June 14, 2013)
Q

Someone in my small group said that when Jesus read from the OT in the synagogue that he was reading from the Septuagint. I disagreed because Jesus was within the Holy Land where Hebrew was still spoken. I understand that the main reason the Septuagint was made – so the Jews outside of the Holy Land could still read scripture since they were losing the Hebrew language. So, do you think the Septuagint was read by Jesus in the synagogues?

Evangelizing My Catholic Family

Published: June 9, 2022 (Originally published: June 25, 2013)
Q

I want to show some Catholic members of my family that they can’t be saved by following Catholic dogma. I plan to use Romans 10:9 and Matt. 7:21-23 as my Scriptural support. Putting these together, it seems that unless we confess and believe in the True Jesus, the one clearly defined and presented in Holy Scripture, we could find ourselves standing before Him and being told the He never knew us. The reason being that we confessed a different Jesus from the one presented in His Holy Word, a Jesus of salvation plus works. Am I understanding this correctly?

Expressing Our Gratitude

Published: June 10, 2022 (Originally published: June 13, 2013)
Q

You have said that believers are admonished to obey God’s commands both as evidence of their faith (you cite James) and in a show of gratitude for what we’ve been given. Are there any other verses besides the one in Romans 12 where Paul begs believers to, in light of God’s mercy, present our bodies as a living sacrifice/respond to the Lord out of gratitude?

Developing The Habit Of Praying

Published: June 10, 2022 (Originally published: June 15, 2013)
Q

I need help to get into the habit of praying. I personally need help from the Lord to center my life around Him, but I forget to pray for it. When I do pray, I am easily distracted. I forget what I am talking about and ramble foolishly, and never seem to make contact with the Lord. What suggestions can you give me to cure this thing that keeps me away from the closer walk I want and need with God?

Becoming A Partial Preterist?

Published: June 10, 2022 (Originally published: June 29, 2013)
Q

For the past year I have been meditating on the finished work of Christ. I have found that it is more “finished” than I thought. Also that God is a very good God. I agree with you that in short we need to simply believe the Gospel. However, this leads me to believe that God had one shot to save mankind, Jesus, that this was a totally complete work, that there is not another “Word” to become flesh & die for our sins, and that all there is left is the Final Coming & the Final Judgment. Therefore I am inclined to be a partial Preterist but I am studying as fast as I can to settle the end times situation in my own mind!

Daniel’s 70th Week And Revelation. Same Or Different?

Published: June 13, 2022 (Originally published: June 2, 2012)
Q

I was just wondering what biblical evidence (implicit or explicit) there is that the different events in Revelation will actually happen during the 70th week of Daniel. Are there any measurements of time stated in Revelation that state how long the judgments will last? Why do the judgments have to happen in the 70th week? Am I missing something?
