A Mansion Or A New Body?

Published: June 11, 2016 (Originally published: June 12, 2016)
Q

In John 14:2 Jesus said he goes to prepare a place for us. I’ve heard that the “place” prepared may not be a mansion or room but that it may be the new body Jesus prepared. My question is: why do we need a place (room; mansion)? When we get there, there will be no private entertainment such as television, we probably will not have a need to be alone so we won’t need a room for solitude, we won’t need the privacy of using a bathroom because the body will probably consume all of what we eat, and we probably won’t need sleep due to the nature of our glorified bodies. A lot of things we do on earth will not be needed in the New Jerusalem.

How Can We Know God’s Will For Our Lives?

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 12, 2016)
Q

My daughter is married with three children. I was talking to her today and she was in tears because she very much wants to do something here on earth for the Lord. She says that all she does is raise her children and do housework. I told her that the Bible says even if you give a cup of water in His name, there is a reward, and that not all of us have big ministries. She said she doesn’t want a big ministry, but just wants to do something more than she is doing now.

What more can I tell her? Isn’t raising up children in the way they should go a big thing in God’s eyes?

Question On Capital Punishment

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 11, 2016)
Q

I have been dealing with non-believers who are calling me a hypocrite and unmerciful for being a supporter of capital punishment. They keep quoting the “cast the first stone” verse and misconstruing it to mean that Christians are to be pacifists when it comes to evil. I tried to explain to them about the covenant God made with Noah, but it was like trying to feed meat to an infant. Any suggestions on how I can deal with non-believers piously lecturing me on capital punishment?

As It Was In The Days Of Noah

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 11, 2016)
Q

In one of your articles you wrote, “The days before the flood were an extreme test of faith for Noah and his family. Not one person supported their decision to abandon their “normal” life and obey the Lord’s commands. And for seven days after they entered the ark nothing happened. Can you imagine how their friends laughed and jeered while they sat there waiting for the rain to come?” Unquote.

Where does it say in Scripture that nothing happened for seven days after the Lord shut them in the ark? I have looked in all my Bibles and what you said is not recorded in any. In my NKJ version immediately after the Lord shut them in it says (verse 17) “Now the flood was on the earth forty days.” Can you please let me know where you obtained this additional information?

The History And Prophecy Of The Temples

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 11, 2016)
Q

You have mentioned that the temple of Ezekiel is yet to be built. I was trying to understand where the instructions are for the other temples that have already been destroyed? When was Ezekiel written with respect the other destroyed temples? How many temples have been created and were they all copies of each other or are they all different layouts?

Will Good Unbelievers Be Punished Less Severely?

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 10, 2016)
Q

Because my sister is a non-believer, and accordingly will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven, my question is will she know WHY she’s in Hell and understand that had she just accepted Christ as her personal savior she would be in Heaven? And because she’s a good, kind, generous, and giving person, will her punishment be less than say someone who murders or molests children? I continue to pray daily for her salvation because I know what’s coming.

Was James Writing To The Church?

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 10, 2016)
Q

I’ve heard people say the book of James was written for the Jews. If so, how do we appropriate the verses on healing such as James 5:14-15 for ourselves, being gentiles? And if it’s not for the Church, why is it in the Bible?

Isn’t The Word Of God For All Believers?

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 9, 2016)

My dad’s pastor says that Isaiah 53:4-5 do not apply to the Church because the “we” in those verses refers to Israel. Isn’t the word of God for us all to appropriate and apply no matter who it was written to at the time?

Satan’s Final Defeat

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 9, 2016)
Q

My question regards Satan’s release after his chaining in Revelation 20:2. Does the Bible say how long it takes before he is thrown into the lake of fire? How long does it take to persuade people to rise up against The Lord ? It seems hard to think that after years of peace people would not be happy. Will people still be born with free will even after the final war?

With Our Last Breath?

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 9, 2016)
Q

My daughter and I were discussing salvation and I told her that I always worry about all those who have never accepted Christ prior to dying suddenly in a horrible event. My daughter then came back with–well you never know in those last few seconds maybe they did. My question is, can a person actually be saved if their “come to Jesus” meeting comes only seconds or minutes before they die?

Is God’s Kingdom A Literal Kingdom?

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 8, 2016)
Q

A verse in Isaiah says “of the increase of His government….there shall be no end”. I heard a preacher say this is basically about Jesus via the Holy Spirit dealing with us, and I just can’t agree with that interpretation. I have always thought it meant what it says. In other words, after our Lord Jesus has ruled during the Millenium, it won’t be over. His Kingdom will always be increasing, throughout eternity. Am I wrong?

Extra Rewards And Extra Punishment

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 8, 2016)
Q

It is clear that acceptance of Jesus as our Savior is the only prerequisite for eternal salvation. All believers are ‘equally saved’ and there is no degree of salvation. Is it not true however, that there are rewards (crowns) in heaven based on works, with the right motivation of serving Christ and giving Him the glory of course? Could it be then, that there could also be less or more severe punishments in eternal damnation?

Am I Being Called?

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 8, 2016)
Q

How do you know if you’re being called into a life of ministry ? I understand that we are all called to be a light in the world and let the Holy Spirit shine through us as we go about our daily lives. However, there are those (like you for instance) who somehow come to a place in their lives where it’s obvious that the Lord wants them to minister to others in a more “official” capacity. I have been struggling with this more and more lately, which makes me think, “Is the fact that I’m struggling, a sign that I’m being called?” I have not received a clear and undeniable “word from the Lord” that I am aware of… it’s more of a thought that just seems to hang around but never really leaves.

You are contradicting 25 centuries of Jewish thought on the issue of the lost tribes. The Jews have claimed throughout the centuries that they only represent two tribes. Christians claim that the Jews represent all 12 tribes. Jews on the other hand have never claimed this.

Are There Things God Can’t Do?

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 7, 2016)
Q

I have a question regarding the Omnipotent Paradox. This is a classic tool used by Atheists. Can God create a stone that is so heavy He cannot lift it, and yet call Himself omnipotent? If He can, then He cannot lift the stone thus He is not omnipotent. If He cannot, then He is not omnipotent. This is one of the last arguments I’ve faced and I really want to respond to atheists with a sound answer. Can you help?

Did Jesus Drink Wine?

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 6, 2016)
Q

I had a discussion about Jesus and wine drinking with a fellow sister-in-Christ today. She said that Jesus did not actually drink alcoholic wine, but only ‘fruit of the vine’. And that since wine is alcoholic and therefore is inebriating, Jesus would not drink that and neither should we. So, my question is, Did Jesus drink alcoholic wine or not?

Pouring Myself Into Another

Published: June 5, 2016 (Originally published: June 6, 2016)
Q

My questions is this. How do I pour myself onto others as Paul did? He loved them and poured himself into them, showing the Love of Christ. I want to do this with my friends, but I don’t know where to start. I’ve been friends with them for so long and now I’m deciding to change my ways with Christ and provide a good example for them. They are not believers and my greatest hope for them is if they each found Christ. How do I pour myself into them to help bring them towards Christ?!

Should I Have Contact With Atheists?

Published: June 3, 2016 (Originally published: June 2, 2016)
Q

I have a question concerning Atheists & contact with such individuals. I know a few people (co-workers) who are confessed Atheists. I however believe in GOD and his son Jesus Christ, I also attempt to live my life in a righteous manner, I’m not perfect, but when speaking with people (The Atheists included) I make sure I give GOD thanks for all the blessings that I am given. From the time I found that these folks did not believe in GOD I placed my bible on top of my desk for all to see simply because I want them to know first that I am a believer & secondly I have nothing to hide and do not feel ashamed & thirdly I feel really uncomfortable with them (Atheists) sitting behind or beside me. I don’t trust people whose only true belief is that there is no GOD.

My question is: Should I still have contact with such people or keep it to a minimum because I do have to work with these folks after all. Quite frankly people who don’t believe in God scare me, & I don’t want to be around them. Am I wrong, or misguided, is there a scripture I can read to help me better understand?

Why Is Samson Among The Faithful?

Published: June 1, 2016 (Originally published: September 12, 2015)
Q

I’m a little confused why Samson is mentioned in Hebrews 11:32-34. As I reread the account in Judges, it seems to me that his life was anything but a walk in faith. I can’t recall a single incident in his life where he did what he knew was right according to his faith. He defiled himself from the moment when he touched a dead lion to the point of sleeping with the prostitute and revealing the secret of his strengh to Delilah. Even the motivation for his final moment when he killed his enemies in the temple was revenge. He was a poor judge and a failure as a Nazirite. Why is he mentioned among the faithful? What does Samson mean?

Events At Crucifixion

Published: June 1, 2016 (Originally published: August 22, 2015)
Q

I recently watched a program regarding the Crucifixion that triggered a question that I have wondered about many times but never received a satisfactory answer. My understanding is that the veil in the temple was several inches thick from decades of repairs with animal skins. So, it had to be a phenomenal event that defied explanation when it ripped in half at Christ’s death. Is there any info in Jewish historical writings as to how the temple leadership (that denied Jesus) explained this as well as the 3 hours of darkness mid-day and earthquake?

Elisha’s Bones

Published: June 1, 2016 (Originally published: August 18, 2015)
Q

In 2 Kings 13:21 there is a dead man who is being buried near the grave of Elisha. As he is being buried, a marauding band attacks, and somehow this dead man’s body gets thrown into the grave of Elisha. As soon as the man’s body touched the bones of Elisha, he was revived and stood on his feet. Why would this kind of resurrection power remain in Elisha’s bones well after he had died?
