Studying Prophecy. Follow Up
Published: May 31, 2016 (Originally published: May 30, 2016)I just read your fabulous article (The Best Reason To Study Prophecy) and you were talking about studying one hour a day to become an expert. My question to you is if you would please give an example as to how you began your study in prophecy, for example did you read a verse and then read bible commentaries on the verse or did you read a book other than the Bible? And how did you know that people you learned from were not false teachers? If you’re just a baby Christian how can you discern?
Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People? Part 2
Published: May 31, 2016 (Originally published: June 1, 2016)Gospel Of The Kingdom Or Gospel Of Peace?
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 5, 2016)The “Gospel of the Kingdom” is mentioned in Matthew 4: 23 , 9:35 , and 24:14. The “Gospel of Peace” is mentioned in Romans 10:15, and Eph 6:15. Do you think one is more for the Church age of Grace, and possibly the other more for the tribulation period? I’m really enjoying your website.
Am I Worthy?
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 5, 2016)I never feel worthy, although I would die rather than deny Christ. I know my sins are forgiven, there are just so many good people, better Christians than I am, how can I live up to all this?
And what about the commandment to keep the Sabbath day holy? I don’t understand exactly what that means. I am no fool, its a huge requirement without understanding.
Woe To The Rich
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 5, 2016)Hello. Love your website. I know that James Chapter 5 describes a bad economic turn in the last days. (Weep and howl, ye rich men .) Do you think this chapter applies to the tribulation period? There have been depressions (and world wars, too) before the rapture, and there could be again, I suppose. But isn’t this ultimate economic shock in James 5 for the tribulation? Thanks for what you do!
Is There Evidence That Jesus Lived?
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 5, 2016)I wonder how it feels to be as stupid as you are. There is not one shred of evidence that Jesus ever lived. Besides the doctored Gospels of the Bible that the Romans put together based off older religions. Get some real information and stop depending on some man that never lived.
Who Are The 24 Elders?
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 4, 2016)Do you have anything on who the 24 Elders are? I am studying a booklet by a former pastor of a church I grew up in and he holds they are some form of pre-creation angels who rule the affairs of earth. This seem to me to smell of new age thinking and does not sit easily so I am researching at present so as to try and bring him some truth.
I’m A Missionary … Follow Up
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 5, 2016)In response to ‘I’m a missionary in my own church‘ – if believers are to concentrate on the three areas you mention within their own church, how do you suggest we reach the lost?
It troubles me that you can feel a stranger at times in your own church and there needs to be fellowship and friendships built for ‘..we are not to be yoked to unbelievers..’, but Jesus commanded that we spread the good news and make disciples. I would appreciate your thoughts on this. God Bless.
I’m A Missionary In My Own Church
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 4, 2016)I have come to see that the Church (all believers – past and present) has the responsibility foremost to glorify God and represent Him to this world in which we live. The church (the local assembly of believers) is for believers to encourage and build-up each other, not necessarily an evangelistic tool. The church of which I am a member seems to weigh heavily on the church “reaching the neighborhood” but weak on building up the saints. I feel such resistance to this push and am thus conflicted by not supporting the “push.” Do you have any insight on the roles (or are there even 2 different roles)? My husband and I have considered leaving, but feel like this is our “mission field.”
Can Mankind Avoid Sinning?
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 4, 2016)I was not raised a Christian and have only recently began seeking God’s truth. I believe in God and am trying to understand Christianity. It is my understanding that Jesus’ death washed away original sin introduced by Adam and Eve. With this in mind, could someone be immortal if they lived a truly sinless life? My idea comes from the quote “for the wages of sin is death.” Does this mean that death can be avoided by a truly sinless individual? I understand that this seems impossible, but is interesting from a theoretical perspective. Does it also follow that Jesus could have been immortal had he not taken our sins for us?
Can We Lose Our Salvation?
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 3, 2016)Can you give me a little history about the Doctrine of losing salvation? When did it first appear in the church and who brought it out into the open? Thanks.
Old Covenant Or New?
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 3, 2016)After the rapture and the Ezekiel battle when Israel sees the Messiah and rebuilds the Temple, I understand that they will resume sacrifices. My question is, why do they resume sacrifices? Or don’t they yet know that Jesus is their Messiah and that His sacrifice was perfect?
Is Head Shaving A Sign Of Mourning?
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 3, 2016)I was reading in Jer. 16:6 this morning and wanted to know more about the significance of shaving the head in mourning. Was that just to show an outward sign of mourning, or was that God’s way of showing people that they should be in mourning until their hair and beard grew back? I would appreciate any insight you might have on this.
Barefoot Before God
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 2, 2016)I just wanted to ask, in such places as Joshua 5:15 where one must remove footwear for being on Holy Ground, what is the significance? I guess shoes are a covering …. is there something that relates to only relying upon God as our covering? Why would it evidently have been wrong to remain shod in the Presence of God?
Are The Spirits Of The Dead Still In The Grave?
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 1, 2016)Thank you for taking time to answer my question. I am gentile searching my Jewish roots. Recently I have attended a Messianic congregation with mainly gentiles.
At one of the Shabbats the subject of life after death came up. I was shocked to find that the majority believed the spirit stays in the grave. Any scripture I quoted they had an answer for it. The answer that shocked me most was that of Yeshua’s reply to the thief on the cross. Here are some of their replies as follows:” 1. There is no punctuation in Greek of the NT. The comma was placed by translators according to a source book and changed the meaning of “today you will be with me in paradise”. 2. Yeshua went to the grave and stayed three days and nights and that paradise didn’t mean heaven, but garden.3. The word for paradise was in the future.
Needless to say I was left reeling for it seems there was a response for all of the theology I was taught about life after death as related to the spirit. I honestly don’t know if this is a Messianic belief. I still believe the spirit goes somewhere to heaven or hell. Please help me get some understanding. I will greatly appreciate your response.
Common Sense Rules For Studying The Bible
Published: May 30, 2016 (Originally published: June 1, 2016)As a somewhat baby Christian there is something I do not understand. I have read many examples of persons who have spent years in Bible study over a particular topic, and believe they have been led by the Holy Spirit to discern the meaning of the passage. Yet, another person studies the same passage but their discernment has led them to the opposite conclusion! How can this be? How can we have this one magnificent book, yet no one can seem to agree on what it says ? Is God a God of confusion ? How can a young Christian have faith in their own ability to search out the scriptures and their meanings when there are so many different opinions as to what is being said?
When Is The Sheep And Goat Judgment?
Published: May 26, 2016 (Originally published: June 1, 2016)How can I prove the sheep & goat judgment occurs at the 2nd coming and is not the same as the great white throne judgment?
The Transfiguration of Jesus
Published: May 26, 2016 (Originally published: May 31, 2016)I have a question related to the Transfiguration of Jesus. Why did He only take three apostles to witness it instead of taking all twelve?
Living God’s Word
Published: May 26, 2016 (Originally published: May 31, 2016)You say that as long as we submit to God’s will, all our needs will be met. How do we live this out in practice? Does it mean we are to give up on our dreams and ambitions? For example, recent financial hardship means that I need to look for work. Do I get out there and look for any job I can find or do I pray that God will provide one for me?
Born Of Water And The Spirit
Published: May 26, 2016 (Originally published: May 31, 2016)I have a question on John 3:5, Jesus was talking about being born of water and of the Spirit. In my Tuesday night Bible study class a question came up asking what this meant. Someone said that Jesus was talking about water baptism but I don’t see that here. Am I way off? What was Jesus really saying in John 3:5?
Doers Of The Word. Follow Up
Published: May 26, 2016 (Originally published: May 30, 2016)Regarding the Doers of the Word . When you say the only work that has any merit is work we do at His prompting and in His strength, would that include preparing and serving meals for those in need and things like that? We know He wants us to help those in need but what if we don’t necessarily feel that we were prompted for this specific activity?
Going To Court
Published: May 26, 2016 (Originally published: May 30, 2016)Re: 1 Corinthians 6:6-7. Would you please help with these verses? My understanding of them is telling me that we should not take others to a court of law. That we should just take what is being dished out and leave the rest up to God.
Revelation As Metaphor
Published: May 26, 2016 (Originally published: May 29, 2016)In a forum I frequent, someone posted the following about the book of Revelation and I don’t know how to counter it.
‘Revelations is metaphor. It’s the Christian Maccabees. John wasn’t writing about the end of the world: he was telling his fellow Christians that no matter their hardships now, they would triumph in the end. The imagery he used throughout the book would have been fairly commonly understood by his contemporaries. All of the mystic mumbo-jumbo and Apocalypse ballyhooing you hear about today relating to Revelations is nothing more than willful ignorance from people who find history and literature inconvenient to their chosen beliefs.’
Predestination and Sanctification
Published: May 26, 2016 (Originally published: May 29, 2016)I have been taught that predestination, mentioned in Romans 8:29, has to do with our sanctification, i.e. that our lives would show forth Christ, the fruit of the Spirit. Could you tell me what you would teach about this?
The Penalty For Sin
Published: May 26, 2016 (Originally published: May 29, 2016)A good friend and I were talking a while ago, and he brought up the subject of Jesus’ sacrifice. He said that while he believes Jesus died for our sins, he doesn’t believe Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. He said in order to pay the penalty for our sins Jesus would have to suffer eternal hell. This is something I had never heard before. Is he right?
